This soup is simple and easy, so it’s perfect for dinner.

  • 6 oz lean ground beef (96% lean)
  • 6oz extra lean ground turkey breast
  • 2 carrots (peeled and shredded)
  • 2 celery ribs (chunky slices)
  • 1 C chopped onion
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 6 C beef broth (reduced sodium)
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 tsp dried sage (crushed)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (crushed)
  • ½ tsp dried rosemary (crushed)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 C potatoes (large chunks)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika


  • Add ground beef, ground turkey breast, onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to a Dutch oven.
  • Continue to cook until the meat is browned and the onions are tender.
  • Drain the fat from the meat before adding more ingredients.
  • Add in the broth, undrained tomatoes, and all of the seasonings to the Dutch oven.
  • Stir to blend. Bring to a boil, add the potato chunks and reduce to a simmer.
  • Mix well. Continue to simmer for at least 20 minutes. Check the potato chunks to make sure that they are tender. If not, continue to simmer.
  • If tender, serve in bowls garnishing with fresh sage. (If desired) Makes 12-1 cup servings.
